A grey-blue recess frames the door, and long grass lies in shadow below.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAlberto Pasini (1826–1899) was an Italian painter from Busseto, near Parma, who trained in Parma and worked in Paris. In 1855 he joined a French diplomatic mission to Persia, and later journeys through the Ottoman lands made Constantinople his great subject: sunlit mosque courtyards, fountains, bazaars and horsemen, painted with crisp architectural detail and bright, clean colour. He showed at the Paris Salon for decades.
