Seventeenth-century Amber painting was strongly influenced by the Mughal court, though by the early eighteenth century its artists took little interest in Mughal ways of showing space, especially in ragamala sets. Works attributed to Amber include pages from a dispersed Rasikapriya of about 1610, illustrating the loves of Radha and Krishna, and ragamala series that picture the musical modes as heroes and heroines. The tradition continued as the Jaipur school.
