The striped cloth with embroidered birds and the red tassels inspired by folk-costume ornament were designed by Karin Larsson. The sheet is in the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eCarl Larsson (1853–1919) was a Swedish painter. Born in Stockholm's Gamla stan, he entered the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts at thirteen and worked as an illustrator before moving to Paris in 1877. At the Scandinavian colony at Grez-sur-Loing he turned to watercolour and met the artist Karin Bergöö, whom he married in 1883. In 1888 the family settled at Lilla Hyttnäs in Sundborn, near Falun, and his watercolours of the house and their eight children, published as Ett hem (A Home) in 1899, made it one of the best-known artist's homes in the world.
