The poster dates from the 1920 Polish-Soviet War.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eDmitry Moor (1883–1946), born Dmitry Stakhievich Orlov in Novocherkassk, was one of the founders of the Soviet political poster. Largely self-taught, he began publishing caricatures in 1907 and took his pseudonym, from Karl Moor, the hero of Schiller's The Robbers, while drawing for the Moscow magazine Budilnik. During the Civil War he made agitation posters, among them Have You Volunteered? of June 1920, whose Red Army soldier points straight at the viewer, and Wrangel Is Still Alive of the same year. He also worked on the ROSTA windows and returned to the poster in the Second World War.
