Wittmack — Thanksgiving | Vintage Thanksgiving Print

A Pilgrim in a tall black hat and a dark windblown cloak stands on a pale snowy field, one hand raised to his chin, a flared blunderbuss in the other. At his feet a dark-feathered turkey lies on its side with an orange-fletched arrow in its back, and a splintered tree stump rises behind it. White stockings and gold-buckled shoes show below his cloak, pale blue shadows cross the snow, and the artist's signature is written in red at lower right.

Edgar Franklin Wittmack (1894–1956) was an illustrator and cover artist for popular magazines of the 1920s and 1930s. Painting his covers in oil, he specialised in heroic and action subjects for The Saturday Evening Post, American Boy and Outdoor Life, and for adventure magazines such as Adventure and Short Stories. He is best remembered for his covers for Popular Science, which turned the schemes of inventors into confident pictures of machines still to come.

Each print is a giclée, printed to order.
