Forty-six numbered book covers, from Heidi to Treasure Island, frame the map. A scroll cartouche at the foot carries the title, with a child reading on either side, and the publisher's credit runs beneath it.

Ginn & Company was an American textbook publisher founded by Edwin Ginn and his brother Fred in 1867 as Ginn Brothers, becoming Ginn & Heath in 1876 and Ginn & Company in 1885. It built the Athenaeum Press in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1895 to house its printing, and commissioned the typeface Century Schoolbook in 1919 for easy-to-read textbooks. Its 1928 pictorial 'Map of the World of Books', signed by the illustrator E. W. Trescott, shows books from its children's list. Xerox acquired the firm in 1968.

Printed as a museum-grade giclée on Hahnemühle fine art paper using 12-ink archival pigment printing.
