Once given to Hans's brother Ambrosius, it is now mostly attributed to Hans Holbein the Younger. He trained in the workshop of his father, Hans Holbein the Elder, and then in Basel, where he made portraits, religious paintings, stained-glass designs and woodcuts for printers. Backed by Erasmus and Thomas More, he went to England in 1526 and settled there in 1532, becoming King's Painter to Henry VIII by 1535. He is known for precise portraits of Erasmus, More, Henry VIII and members of the Tudor court, for The Ambassadors (1533) and for the Dance of Death woodcuts. His work is held by the National Gallery, London, the Kunstmuseum Basel and the Frick Collection.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEach print is a giclée, printed to order.
