At the left an angel in a red and gold brocade cope kneels with one hand raised and a slender sceptre in the other. Two more angels attend her, one in lilac with green wings lifting her mantle's hem, one in cream behind her. Red bed hangings, a lily in a jug and a tiled floor fill the room.

The original: oil on panel, transferred to canvas, 1480-89; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

Hans Memling (c. 1430–1494) was a painter of German origin, born near Frankfurt, who worked in Flanders. He probably trained in Mainz or Cologne and then in Brussels in the workshop of Rogier van der Weyden, and by 1465 he was a citizen of Bruges, where he ran a large workshop. His clients included clergy, guilds, and merchants and bankers, including an agent of the Medici Bank in Bruges. He painted altarpieces and devotional panels with donor portraits, and portraits set against landscape backgrounds, among them The Last Judgment triptych. His work is held by the Groeningemuseum in Bruges, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Gallery, London.

Each print is a giclée, printed to order.
