Her braided hair hangs in a thick rope down her body, bound at her ankles. Three feathery wing-like shapes with thread-thin tails drift at upper left under a dotted star, and scissors, a thimble box, a card and a ball of wool lie on the hill below. The signature and date are at upper right.

Harry Clarke (1889–1931) was an Irish stained-glass artist and book illustrator, born in Dublin, the son of a church decorator whose business he joined as a boy. He studied at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art and made his name with eleven windows for the Honan Chapel at University College Cork (1915–17); later glass includes The Eve of St Agnes, after Keats, and the Geneva Window. As an illustrator he drew Andersen's Fairy Tales (1916) and Poe's Tales of Mystery and Imagination, whose 1923 edition made his reputation, drawing on Art Nouveau and French Symbolism. He died of tuberculosis at 41. His work is held by the Hugh Lane Gallery, the National Gallery of Ireland and the Wolfsonian in Miami.

Each print is made to our Archival Museum Standards: a 12-ink giclée, printed to order.
