Above, two kneeling figures face each other across a white beam: one wrapped in lilac, one glowing gold with an arm reaching up. A nautilus shell crowns the central figure, pale red flecks fall from above, and yellow and blue halves divide the oval behind.

Hilma af Klint (1862–1944) was a Swedish painter who arrived at abstraction years before Kandinsky, Malevich or Mondrian. Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm and working professionally as a botanical and landscape painter, she began in 1906 the vast cycle she called The Paintings for the Temple — swans, altarpieces, spirals and the ten great sheets of The Ten Largest — guided by her involvement with theosophy and the spiritualist group known as The Five. Convinced the work would not be understood in her lifetime, she left instructions that it not be exhibited until twenty years after her death. Her paintings are held by the Hilma af Klint Foundation and Moderna Museet in Stockholm.

Each print is made to our Archival Museum Standards: a 12-ink giclée, printed to order.
