On the yellow cross and the pale blue cross at either side hang translucent figures whose skeletons and organs show in yellow, blue and black. The central black-and-white cross rises from a stepped plinth inside a looping dark line, carrying a pale figure with outstretched arms, two heads in profile wearing quartered caps, and red blocks. A white star with black-and-white rays shines above, and a row of rings runs along the foot.

Hilma af Klint (1862–1944) was a Swedish painter who arrived at abstraction years before Kandinsky, Malevich or Mondrian. Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm and working professionally as a botanical and landscape painter, she began in 1906 the vast cycle she called The Paintings for the Temple — swans, altarpieces, spirals and the ten great sheets of The Ten Largest — guided by her involvement with theosophy and the spiritualist group known as The Five. Convinced the work would not be understood in her lifetime, she left instructions that it not be exhibited until twenty years after her death. Her paintings are held by the Hilma af Klint Foundation and Moderna Museet in Stockholm.

Each print is made to our Archival Museum Standards: a 12-ink giclée, printed to order.
