Men in broad white collars, women in caps and children bow their heads around him, and men in feathered headdresses stand at the far end of the table. At lower right a woman in a white cap sits beside an infant in a hollowed-log cradle, a small girl at her side, while others sit on the grass before a log cabin. Warm sepia tones throughout.

Jennie Augusta Brownscombe (1850–1936) was an American painter, illustrator and etcher known for genre scenes and episodes from colonial and Revolutionary American history.
