His watercolours were translated into The Birds of America (1827–1838), 435 hand-coloured aquatint plates including the Great Blue Heron and the Carolina Parakeet, engraved primarily by Robert Havell Jr., and coloured by a team of more than fifty colourists. The original watercolours are held by the New-York Historical Society, and complete sets of the prints are held by the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia and the Natural History Museum, London.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ePrinted as a museum-grade giclée on Hahnemühle fine art paper using 12-ink archival pigment printing.
