His watercolours were translated into The Birds of America (1827–1838), 435 hand-coloured aquatint plates including the Great Blue Heron and the Carolina Parakeet, engraved primarily by Robert Havell Jr. — recorded in the Library of Congress\/Wikidata authority data as the work's principal engraver — and coloured by a team of more than fifty colourists.
