Her salmon-pink gown leaves the back and shoulders open, gathers to a bustle and carries a white ruffle at the shoulder. Long black gloves run past her elbows, and a folded pink fan shows at one hand. Coral-red letters name the Alcazar d'Été above her and Kanjarowa across her skirt.

The original: colour lithograph, 1891; Bibliothèque nationale de France, Paris.

Jules Chéret (1836–1932) was the father of the modern poster. A trained lithographer, he set up his own press in Paris in 1866 and over the next four decades produced more than a thousand colour posters for theatres, dance halls, perfumes and lamp oil, populated by the laughing, airborne women Parisians called Chérettes. He received the Légion d'honneur in 1890 for creating a new branch of art. His posters are held by the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.

Each print is made to our Archival Museum Standards: a 12-ink giclée, printed to order.
