A trained lithographer, he set up his own press in Paris in 1866 and over the next four decades produced more than a thousand colour posters for theatres, dance halls, perfumes and lamp oil, populated by the laughing, airborne women Parisians called Chérettes. He received the Légion d'honneur in 1890 for creating a new branch of art. His posters are held by the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEach print is made to our \u003ca href=\"\/pages\/archival-museum-standards\"\u003eArchival Museum Standards\u003c\/a\u003e: a 12-ink giclée, printed to order.
