Over a seventy-year career he worked under some thirty names, produced books, sketches and paintings by the thousand, and in his seventies designed the Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, including The Great Wave and Red Fuji, which reshaped landscape printmaking and later European art. He called himself the old man mad about drawing.
