A fine halo of rays glows behind her head, and broad pale yellow wings rise against a plum night sky scattered with stars. Her green gown is sprinkled with small dark leaves and has a blue patterned sleeve. A border of yellow daffodils and green leaves surrounds the panel, and the newspaper's masthead and the words Easter Souvenir sit above it. Signed Louis Rhead at right.

Louis Rhead (1857–1926) was an English-born American artist, illustrator and author. Born into a Staffordshire pottery family, he studied in Paris under Gustave Boulanger and at the National Art Training School in South Kensington, and worked for Minton and Wedgwood before moving to New York in 1883 as art director for the publisher D. Appleton. In the 1890s poster craze, influenced by Eugène Grasset, his work appeared regularly in Harper's, The Century, St. Nicholas and Scribner's, and in 1895 he won a gold medal at the first International Poster Show in Boston. He later illustrated children's classics and wrote American Trout-Stream Insects (1916).

Each print is made to our Archival Museum Standards: a 12-ink giclée, printed to order.
