A prolific artist trained in the Parisian manner, he worked in Flanders and late in life lived in or near Ghent, illuminating many books of hours as well as works by Seneca, Boccaccio and Christine de Pizan. His pages tie text, miniature and border closely together, and his borders of broad, heavy leaves with lively figures can rival the miniatures themselves.
