He worked in Paris with the Boucicaut Master before 1420, then in English-held Rouen, and moved to England before Rouen fell to the French in 1449. His boldly outlined, expressive figures and patterned landscapes were easy to copy and long influenced painting in Rouen; a leaf with Saint Anne teaching the Virgin to read is in the J.
