A pupil of Reza Abbasi, he stayed faithful to the Isfahan style of his teacher and avoided the influence of Western painting. He painted figures, animals, and battle and banquet scenes, among them scenes of ordinary people, unusual in Persian painting, and more than 300 paintings and drawings attributed to him survive. In the 1660s he painted illustrations for a copy of Firdausi's Shahnama. His work, including a painting of mythical creatures around a lotus leaf dated 1677, is held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEach print is a giclée, printed to order.
