Pale grey cascades fall past a black cliff at the upper left, and a maple branch with green leaves reaches in from the upper right. Foam curls around the rock in grey and white waves. The signature is brushed at the lower right above a red seal in a rectangular frame.

The original: colour woodblock print, 1900–1930; Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.

Ohara Koson (1877–1945) was the leading bird-and-flower (kachō-ga) artist of the shin-hanga movement.
