It comprises two contrasting styles: the bold, intensely coloured Basohli manner, whose earliest known works date from about 1690, and the delicate, lyrical Kangra style that replaced it from the mid-eighteenth century, as painters trained in late Mughal naturalism, above all the family of Manaku and Nainsukh of Guler, spread through the hill courts. Like Rajasthani painting it centres on Krishna and Radha, with the epics, ragamalas and portraits, and it reached its peak under Raja Sansar Chand of Kangra (r. 1775–1823). Examples are held by the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Minneapolis Institute of Art.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEach print is a giclée, printed to order.
