Its German printing technician, Fritz Schleicher, bought it in 1901. The press printed oleographs, colour lithographs made to resemble oil paintings, after Ravi Varma's canvases: Hindu gods and goddesses and scenes from the Mahabharata, the Ramayana and the Puranas, sold cheaply and in thousands. Printing continued long after the painter's death in 1906, and under Schleicher the press also commissioned designs from other artists and printed commercial labels. Its prints are held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Each print is a giclée, printed to order. Unframed prints are made on Hahnemühle German Etching, a 310gsm matte fine-art paper.
