A dark disc holds the star, then a fringe of flame, a band of fine horizontal strokes, a wide ring of scalloped, wave-like marks and a dark band; the outermost ring is a billowing edge of clouds. The page's own paper surrounds the circle. From Robert Fludd's Utriusque Cosmi, 1617, page 43.

Robert Fludd (1574–1637) was an English physician and hermetic philosopher. He studied at St John's College, Oxford, then travelled and studied medicine and alchemy on the Continent before returning to practise as a physician in London. His major illustrated work, Utriusque Cosmi Historia (1617–1621), set out an elaborate cosmology in engraved diagrams of the macrocosm and microcosm, among the most striking scientific images of the early seventeenth century. Copies and manuscripts are held by the British Library and the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica in Amsterdam.

Each print is made to our Archival Museum Standards: a 12-ink giclée, printed to order.
