The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eShaykh Hamdullah (about 1436–1520), born in Amasya, was the most famous Ottoman calligrapher. When Bayezid II took the throne in 1481 he called him to Istanbul, where Hamdullah refined the naskh script into what became the Ottoman style. He has often been called the father of Ottoman calligraphy, and later masters copied his work as training.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEach print is a giclée, printed to order.
