In the mid-1920s he tilted the grid to the diagonal in his counter-compositions, a break that ended his alliance with Mondrian. He lectured in Weimar beside the Bauhaus in 1921–22, published Dada verse under the name I. K. Bonset, and with Sophie Taeuber-Arp and Jean Arp remodelled the Café de l'Aubette in Strasbourg (1926–28).
