The soldier grips a rifle with a red flag at its muzzle and reaches out toward it, above an industrial plain of smoking factory chimneys, a winding track and a train. Red and black lettering surrounds the scene, in a red border on cream paper.

Vasily Spassky (c. 1870–1923), born in Moscow, was an illustrator, poster artist and author of children's books.
