Below it a broad black band curves like a hook, fading to red along its underside as it crosses a blue square. A thin black line runs from top to bottom. Dashed lines cross the upper half and pass through an olive ring at the right, while a mint-green rectangle, a lilac half-disc, a red dot and a wavy cream shape float around them.

Willi Baumeister (1889–1955) was a German painter from Stuttgart, a pupil of Adolf Hölzel. In the 1920s he painted his Mauerbilder (wall pictures) and figures built from flat geometric planes, close to the Purism of Léger and Le Corbusier. He taught in Frankfurt from 1928 until he was dismissed in 1933, when the Nazis labelled his work degenerate; after the war he became a professor at the Stuttgart Academy. His work is held by the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart.

Each print is made to our Archival Museum Standards: a 12-ink giclée, printed to order.
