It is held in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eYakov Guminer (1896–1942) was a Soviet painter and graphic artist who worked in Petrograd, later Leningrad. Born in Minsk, he studied at the Drawing School of the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts and the Petrograd Free Art Studios, and from 1918 worked in book design, magazine illustration and posters, designing more than 200 books and about 100 posters. A poster of 1931 set out the arithmetic of completing the five-year plan in four years: 2 + 2 plus the enthusiasm of the workers = 5. He died of starvation during the siege of Leningrad in 1942.
