Barbed wire coils across the lower right, a red star glows at the upper left, and a large slanted cry in black and blue capitals runs across the top.

Yuri Bondi (1889–1926), born in Baku, was a stage designer, director and graphic artist. Without formal art training, he learned stage design in Vsevolod Meyerhold's studios in St Petersburg and designed productions for him between 1912 and 1915, including Blok's The Puppet Show. In 1919 he moved to Kostroma, where he worked for the local branch of the ROSTA windows, bringing elements of Cubism into poster graphics, and in 1920 he staged Blok's The Rose and the Cross there. In 1921 he joined the People's Commissariat for Education in Moscow, and in 1923 he became artistic director of the first State Theatre for Children. He died in Moscow.

Each print is made to our Archival Museum Standards: a 12-ink giclée, printed to order.
