Theo van Doesburg (1883–1931) was a Dutch artist, critic, and architect who co-founded the De Stijl movement alongside Piet Mondrian. His bold geometric compositions — horizontal lines, primary colours, and later the diagonal elements of his Elementarism — were foundational to Bauhaus-era design and architecture. Works like Counter-Composition VI and Composition in Dissonances remain defining documents of European avant-garde abstraction.
