Frequently Asked Questions

With every print

Who chooses the art?

People do. Every work in the collection is chosen by hand, from the great names of art history to artists and traditions you rarely see as prints: Persian miniatures, South Asian painting, Bauhaus posters, Belle Époque illustration and much more. Browse by artist, colour, mood, room, style or subject, or start with our curated collections.

Could I get this print somewhere else? Why buy it from you?

Yes, you can, and it depends on what you want from a print. If you want a poster to put up on the wall, that is completely fine. If you want a print that will last for decades, one you might one day pass down to your children, our prints are made for you.

Every print is made to our Archival Museum Standards: a high-resolution scan of the original, kept to the artwork's own proportions, printed as a 12-ink giclée rated to stay true for more than 100 years. Unframed prints are on Hahnemühle fine-art paper; framed prints come in real, solid-wood frames, handmade to order. And we look after you long after it arrives.

What are Archival Museum Standards?

Our quality standard, defined five ways: the source (high-resolution scans of the original artwork, never blurry web images), the preparation (each print kept to the artwork's own proportions, not cropped or stretched to fit a standard paper size), the printing (12-ink giclée with water-based pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm or German Etching 310gsm for unframed prints), the packing (unframed prints carefully rolled in a sturdy tube) and the aftercare (free replacements, 30-day returns on unframed prints and a real person to help). Your print and delivery to your door. Shipping is free worldwide, and we cover import duties: if you are charged a duty when your print arrives, send the receipt to support@9artprints.com and we will reimburse you.

Can I talk to a real person?

Always. Write to support@9artprints.com or call +1 (647) 455 2253, before you order or long after your print arrives. Choosing a size, asking about a custom size or a framing question: just ask.

Do you help after my print arrives?

Yes. If any item arrives damaged, we replace it free—plus easy 30-day returns and exchanges on all unframed prints for any reason. Questions about unrolling, hanging or framing are welcome any time.

I’m new to buying fine art prints. Where should I start?

Many of our customers are purchasing their first fine art print and simply want to make a thoughtful choice for their home or workspace.

This is why we've created a detailed guide covering the essentials of buying high-quality art prints — including paper types, printing methods, framing options, and how to choose the right size for your space.

You can read it here:

The Ultimate Guide to Buying Fine Art Prints

Print Quality

What is a giclée print?

A giclée print is a fine art reproduction made with high-resolution inkjet printers and archival pigment inks, capable of fine detail, a wide tonal range and accurate colour. When printed on archival fine art paper, giclée prints are designed to keep their quality for decades.

All prints from 9 Art Prints are produced using 12-ink pigment giclée printers.

What paper do you print on?

Unframed prints are made on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm or Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm, two of the most respected fine art papers in the world.

Hahnemühle papers are widely used by professional photographers, artists, and galleries because of their exceptional depth, texture, and archival qualities.

A few panoramic formats and photographs are printed on other archival papers. Each product page names the paper for that print.

How long will the prints last?

Our prints are produced using archival pigment inks on fine art paper.

They are rated to last more than 100 years without noticeable fading in good display conditions: indoors, and out of direct sunlight.

Are the prints made to order?

Yes. All artworks are printed to order.

This ensures each piece is produced fresh on archival materials rather than being pulled from warehouse stock.

Framing

What kind of frames do you use?

All frames are solid wood and hand-made to order by guild-certified framers.

Each framed artwork is produced alongside the print itself in our studios to ensure proper fit and finishing.

What glazing do you use for framed prints?

Our framed prints include low-glare acrylic glazing.

This glazing:

  • reduces glare and reflections
  • protects the artwork
  • is lighter and safer than traditional glass

Glass glazing — including Museum Glass — is available upon request.

Do framed prints arrive ready to hang?

Yes. All framed artworks arrive fully assembled and ready to hang.

Sizes

What is the largest print size available?

Maximum sizes currently available:

  • Unframed prints: up to 40 × 60 inches (squares up to 60 × 60, panoramics up to 24 × 72)
  • Framed prints: up to 30 × 45 inches (squares up to 36 × 36, panoramics up to 20 × 60)

The sizes on each product page follow that artwork's own proportions.

Do you offer custom sizes?

Yes. Custom sizing may be available depending on the artwork and format.

Please contact us directly to discuss custom requests.

How is my print packed?

Unframed prints are carefully rolled and shipped in a sturdy tube, the safest way to send a sheet of fine-art paper: it cannot be creased or have its corners knocked in transit. Framed prints arrive fully assembled and ready to hang. How to unroll and care for your print

Where are artworks shipped from?

To ensure faster delivery and reduced shipping distances, prints are produced and shipped from regional studios in:

  • North America
  • the European Union
  • Oceania / Australia

Orders are fulfilled from the closest production location whenever possible.

Returns & Replacements

Can I return or exchange an unframed print?

Yes. You have 30 days from delivery to exchange or return any unframed print, for any reason.

  • Exchanges (wrong size or swapping artwork): free. We send the new print right out.
  • Refunds: mail the print back in its original tube. You cover the return postage.

See our full returns policy.

What about framed prints?

Framed prints are made to order and are final sale, unless they arrive damaged, in which case we replace them free.

What happens if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, we will replace or refund it immediately.

In these cases, the item does not need to be returned.

Artwork & Color Accuracy

Are all artworks authentic reproductions?

All artworks are reproduced from public domain or properly licensed sources, to the best of our knowledge.

Will the colors look exactly the same as on my screen?

Because screens display colors differently depending on device settings, minor color variations are normal when purchasing art online.

We calibrate our printing process carefully to produce accurate and faithful reproductions of the original artwork.
