A monolith of red rises against a field of black
Karl Wiener — Monument | Modernist Abstract Print
Karl Wiener (1901–1949) was an Austrian graphic artist and illustrator whose work spanned modernist abstraction, book illustration, and decorative design in Interwar Vienna. His output — from the introspective From My Life series to his charming architectural sketches and spare figurative works — reflects the cultural richness and formal experimentation of Viennese modernism between the wars. Working in the tradition of the Vienna Secession but with his own quiet, intimate voice, he produced works of considerable graphic intelligence and gentle emotional depth.
