Decadence

Appetite with the brakes off

Decadence art prints: paintings, etchings, illustrations and vintage posters of feasts, banquets, drinking and excess. Dutch and Flemish genre painting of the 16th and 17th centuries forms the largest group, with Jan Steen's The Dissolute Household (1663), Judith Leyster's The Last Drop (1629), Frans Hals's Merrymakers at Shrovetide (1616) and Pieter Bruegel the Elder's The Land of Cockaigne (1567). The collection also includes Lawrence Alma-Tadema's The Roses of Heliogabalus (1888), Giovanni Battista Tiepolo's The Banquet of Cleopatra (1742), William Hogarth's A Midnight Modern Conversation (1732), Kitagawa Utamaro's Three Drunken Courtesans and Edvard Munch's The Day After (1894).

The selection covers banquets, taverns, gluttony and the morning after, from Giovanni Bellini's The Feast of the Gods (1514) to Art Nouveau illustrations by Aubrey Beardsley and a champagne poster by Leonetto Cappiello (1902). Several works, such as Jan Steen's Beware of Luxury (1663), were painted as moral warnings against excess.

The feast and tavern scenes suit dining rooms, kitchens, home bars and living rooms. All prints are museum-quality reproductions, available unframed or framed with low-glare acrylic glazing, with free shipping and import duties covered.
