Medieval Illuminated Manuscript Prints

Medieval illuminated manuscript prints: painted miniatures, decorated initials and gold-leaf pages from handmade books of the 10th to the 16th century. Sources include books of hours, psalters, gospel books, choir books (graduals and antiphonals), Beatus manuscripts of the Apocalypse and the Prayer Book of Charles the Bold. Illuminators include the Limbourg Brothers, Jean Fouquet, Jean Bourdichon, Simon Bening, Lieven van Lathem, Lorenzo Monaco, Niccolò di Giacomo da Bologna and the Armenian painter T'oros Roslin. Most subjects are religious, such as the Annunciation, the Nativity, the Crucifixion, Pentecost, the Evangelists and saints, along with scenes from chivalric romances and history.
