Soviet Posters

Soviet posters: propaganda, advertising and public-information posters from the Soviet Union, mainly from the Russian Civil War (1918–1921) and the 1920s. Artists include Dmitry Moor, Viktor Deni, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Ivan Malyutin, Ivan Simakov, Sergey Ivanov and Nikolai Kupreyanov. Subjects include the Red Army and the Civil War, Lenin, May Day and anniversaries of the October Revolution, literacy and books, workers' cooperatives, public health campaigns such as cholera vaccination, and circus posters. Many are Constructivist designs with flat bold colour, hand-drawn Cyrillic lettering and photomontage. Titles are translated into English.

The selection focuses on the early Soviet years, when poster artists developed a new graphic language of flat colour and strong lettering.

The red, black and cream designs suit offices, studies, kitchens and modern living rooms, and work well hung in a row along a hallway. All prints are museum-quality reproductions, available unframed or framed with low-glare acrylic glazing, with free shipping and import duties covered.
