Fear Art Prints
Fear art prints: frightening paintings and prints of death, devils, hell, witches, ghosts and monsters. Most are etchings and engravings from the 16th to the early 20th century: Félicien Rops's Dance of Death and hanged men, James Ensor's The Seven Deadly Sins (1904), Max Klinger's etching cycles On Death and A Glove, William Blake's engravings of devils for Dante's Inferno and of Satan for the Book of Job, Jacques Callot's Temptation of Saint Anthony, Hans Baldung Grien's The Bewitched Groom and Rodolphe Bresdin's The Comedy of Death. Paintings include Hieronymus Bosch's Hell, Arnold Böcklin's The Isle of the Dead and a ghost scene by Henry Fuseli, with work by Alfred Kubin.
The selection shows how artists across five centuries pictured what people feared.
The black-and-white etchings suit studies, libraries and hallways. All prints are museum-quality reproductions, available unframed or framed with low-glare acrylic glazing, with free shipping and import duties covered.

A full moon breaks through banks of cloud over a sheepfold at night, framed by bare, twisted trees. Along the far rail, wolves' eyes glint white in the dark, and more wolves are already over the fence, dropping into the pen from both sides. The flock scatters across the straw, heads thrown back and mouths open, while at the centre a wolf sinks its teeth into a crying lamb. Pale fleece is cut in fine engraved lines against deep shadow.
The original: engraving by Jonnard after Gustave Doré, illustrating La Fontaine's fable The Wolves and the Sheep (Book III) in Doré's illustrated edition of the Fables, first published in 1868.
Gustave Doré (1832–1883) was the most prolific and visually ambitious illustrator of the 19th century — a French artist whose engravings for Dante's Inferno, the Bible, Cervantes, Milton, and Rabelais defined the visual imagination of an era. Working at a scale and with a dramatic intensity that no illustrator before or since has matched, he transformed book illustration into a form of monumental art. His London engravings documenting Victorian poverty, his apocalyptic biblical visions, and his fairy-tale forests remain among the most powerful graphic images of the 19th century.
Each print is made to our Archival Museum Standards: a 12-ink giclée, printed to order. Unframed prints are made on Hahnemühle German Etching, a 310gsm matte fine-art paper. Framed prints arrive in a handmade solid-wood frame with low-reflection glazing, ready to hang. Ships worldwide with free delivery to 30+ countries.
