Kazimir Malevich Prints

About Kazimir Malevich

Kazimir Malevich was a painter born near Kyiv, then in the Russian Empire and now in Ukraine, in 1879, to parents of Polish origin, and he died in Leningrad (now St Petersburg) in 1935. He studied drawing in Kyiv and later worked in Moscow, moving through Impressionism and Symbolism before taking up Cubism and Futurism around 1912.

In 1915 Kazimir Malevich showed Black Square, a black shape on a white ground, at an exhibition in Petrograd, and launched Suprematism, his name for an art built on pure colour and geometric shape rather than any subject or story. Floating squares, crosses and bars followed, leading to Suprematist Composition: White on White (1918), now at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He was an influential teacher in Vitebsk, Petrograd and elsewhere, but as Soviet authorities turned against abstract art his late work returned to figures. Large holdings are in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.

Kazimir Malevich prints: reproductions of Suprematist paintings and an early wartime poster by the Russian avant-garde artist Kazimir Malevich, made between 1914 and 1918. Works in the collection include White on White (1918), Black Suprematic (1915), Suprematism (1915), House Under Construction (1915) and Black and Red Square.

This selection concentrates on Malevich's Suprematist works: squares, bars and rectangles in black, red and white set against plain grounds, with no subject other than shape and colour. It also includes a 1914 propaganda poster from the First World War, drawn in a bold folk-print style with flat colour and text.

The simple geometry suits modern living rooms, offices, studios and minimal interiors, where a single square print can anchor a wall. All prints are museum-quality reproductions, available unframed or framed with low-glare acrylic glazing, with free shipping and import duties covered.
