Ukiyo-e Prints

Ukiyo-e prints: Japanese woodblock prints and paintings from the Edo period (1603–1868) and the Meiji era that followed. Ukiyo-e means "pictures of the floating world". The main artists are Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Hiroshige, Kitagawa Utamaro, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Tsukioka Yoshitoshi and Ohara Koson, with works by Shibata Zeshin, Kawanabe Kyōsai and Itō Jakuchū. Series include Hokusai's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji and One Hundred Poems Explained by the Nurse. Subjects include Mount Fuji and landscapes, bridges and waterfalls, beautiful women (bijin-ga), kabuki actors, samurai and warriors, and birds and flowers (kachō-e).
