Bedlam

Order has left the building

Bedlam art prints: paintings, etchings, engravings and illustrations of madness, carnivals, crowds, witches and chaos. The largest groups are by James Ensor, including Christ's Entry into Brussels in 1889 (1888) and Scandalized Masks (1895); Pieter Bruegel the Elder, including Dulle Griet (1561) and The Fight between Carnival and Lent (1559); and Francisco de Goya, including The Sabbath of Witches (1797) and three etchings from Los Disparates (1815). The collection also includes Hieronymus Bosch's Ship of Fools (1500), William Hogarth's The Enraged Musician (1741), George Bellows's Dempsey and Firpo (1924) and Vincent van Gogh's Corridor in the Asylum (1889).

The selection focuses on folly and disorder in European art from the 1480s to the 1920s: masks and carnivals, temptations of Saint Anthony, witches' sabbaths, fairs, brawls and asylums. Many of the works are satirical as well as frightening.

The dark subjects suit studies, libraries, hallways and home bars. All prints are museum-quality reproductions, available unframed or framed with low-glare acrylic glazing, with free shipping and import duties covered.
