Georges de Feure Prints

About Georges de Feure

Georges de Feure (1868–1943) was a French painter and designer, born in Paris. He worked in Paris as a printmaker, poster artist and designer at the height of Art Nouveau, and became one of the main designers for Siegfried Bing, the dealer whose Paris gallery, L'Art Nouveau, gave the style its name.

For Bing, around 1898 to 1904, de Feure designed porcelain, furniture, fans and textiles with slender, flowing lines and soft colour. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York holds a vitrine, chairs and tableware he designed. His prints and posters often feature elegant, mysterious women, as in the lithograph The Source of Evil (1894), Woman with Peonies (1897) and the poster Comédie Parisienne (1900), showing the dancer Loïe Fuller as Salomé.

Georges de Feure prints: reproductions of Art Nouveau posters, lithographs and designs by the French artist Georges de Feure, from the 1890s and early 1900s. The collection includes Le Diablotin (1892), Thés du Palais Indien (1894), The Source of Evil (1894), A Jeanne d'Arc (1896) and La Femme Fatale.

This selection concentrates on de Feure's women: singers, dancers, smokers and Symbolist figures such as La Reine de la nuit and La Femme Fatale. About half are Paris posters for cafés, casinos, exhibitions and the Folies-Bergère, with bold lettering. The rest are lithographs and designs, including a fan design, in slender lines and muted colour.

The posters suit hallways, kitchens, bars and dining rooms, and the quieter lithographs suit bedrooms, dressing rooms and studies. All prints are museum-quality reproductions, available unframed or framed with low-glare acrylic glazing, with free shipping and import duties covered.
