A marble palazzo glows with colored medallions above a canal

The narrow, ornate facade of a Venetian palazzo rises in shades of rose, gold, and lavender, decorated with round polychrome marble medallions and pointed Gothic windows. A gondola is moored at its water-level entrance. The canal in front is rendered in soft strokes of turquoise and green, mirroring the building above. Signed and dated lower left, 1908, in red.

Claude Monet (1840–1926) gave Impressionism its name and its longest career.
