A woman with long red hair, crowned with a spray of leaves, sits in profile against a dark clouded sky, holding a white quill up to her lips above a black inkwell and papers. She wears a long olive-yellow gown patterned with white scalloped leaves and sits beside a tall harp. Below her, a stone pedestal is lettered with the ink brand's name, and a dark banner beneath carries the maker's slogan. The artist's signature and the date 1892 appear at the lower right of the scene.

Eugène Grasset (1845–1917) was a Swiss-born designer and a pioneer of Art Nouveau in Paris. After studying architecture in Zürich he settled in Paris in 1871, designing furniture, wallpaper, fabrics, tapestries, ceramics and jewellery before turning to graphic design, and his posters, among them Jeanne d'Arc for Sarah Bernhardt, appeared in Les Maîtres de l'Affiche. He drew covers for Harper's and The Century, created the sower emblem of Larousse and a typeface cut by the Peignot foundry. His work is held by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the Museum of Modern Art and the Van Gogh Museum.

Printed as a museum-grade giclée on Hahnemühle fine art paper using 12-ink archival pigment printing. Available handframed in FSC-certified wood with optional float glass, or unframed. Ships worldwide with free delivery to 30+ countries.
