A woman in a floral patchwork gown stands against a field of yellow
Gustav Klimt — Portrait of Eugenia Primavesi | Fine Art Print
Note: Framed prints require slightly longer production time
A woman with dark upswept hair stands in a floor-length gown patched with pink, orange, teal and violet floral motifs, her hands held at her sides. Behind her, an arched screen of pink roses and green leaves rises against a flat yellow ground, and a small square panel with a colorful painted figure sits in the upper right corner. The signature GUSTAV KLIMT appears near her lower right hand.
Gustav Klimt (1862–1918) was the leading figure of the Vienna Secession, which he co-founded in 1897. His golden period portraits and allegories — The Kiss, the portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer, the Beethoven Frieze — combine mosaic-like ornament and gold leaf with an unflinching treatment of the body, and his square landscapes of the Attersee are among the most serene paintings of the era. His works are held by the Belvedere in Vienna, the Neue Galerie in New York and the Leopold Museum.
