A mustached man in a black bowler hat and a round monocle lolls in a brown armchair, sipping an amber drink through a short straw while gripping a long pale cane that angles down across his body, its tip resting on the buckle of his raised black shoe. He wears a black jacket, grey trousers, a white collar and black bow tie and checked socks. Bold black lettering at the upper right names the Maxim-Bar against a cream ground with a brown border.

Hans Rudi Erdt (1883–1925) was a German poster designer and one of the leading masters of the Berlin Sachplakat, the object poster that reduced an advertisement to a single bold image and a brand name. Born in Benediktbeuern in Bavaria, he trained in Munich and around 1908 joined the Berlin printers Hollerbaum und Schmidt, for whom he designed flat, sharply outlined posters for clients such as Opel, Manoli and Problem cigarettes. During the First World War he also produced propaganda posters, including U-Boote heraus!.

Printed as a museum-grade giclée on Hahnemühle fine art paper using 12-ink archival pigment printing. Available handframed in FSC-certified wood with optional float glass, or unframed. Ships worldwide with free delivery to 30+ countries.
