Each frame is made to order by one of our framing workshops, so the exact shade and profile may vary slightly from the photos.
A great dome of rock, blackened with dense vertical strokes of wet ink, rises above a crowd of ridges, and thin white falls of water streak the slopes on either side. Bands of white mist drift through the middle, and pines and leafy trees climb the slopes below. At lower right a house roof shows among dark trees, with willows to its left. The title, the painter's name and the date are brushed at upper right above two seals. It is painted in grey and deep black ink.
Jeong Seon painted the scroll in 1751, in the reign of King Yeongjo, at Cheongun-dong in present-day Seoul, where he was born. South Korea designated it National Treasure No. 216 in 1984. Long kept at the Ho-Am Art Museum, it came from the collection of Lee Kun-hee and was donated to the National Museum of Korea after his death in 2020.
The original: hanging scroll, ink on paper, 1751, National Museum of Korea, Seoul.
Jeong Seon (1676–1759), known by his art name Gyeomjae, was a Korean painter of the Joseon dynasty, born in Seoul to a gentry family of modest means. Journeys to the Diamond Mountains (Geumgangsan) in 1711 and 1712 produced albums that made his name, and he went on to serve as a district magistrate and to receive court rank from King Yeongjo. He is credited as the father of true-view landscape painting, which pictured real Korean places rather than idealised Chinese scenery, with bold brushwork, layered ink washes and dotted vegetation. His best-known works include General View of Mount Geumgang (1734) and Clearing after Rain on Mount Inwang (1751). His work is held by the National Museum of Korea and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

9 Art Prints was founded by author Arif Anwar around two simple ideas: that great art should reach far beyond the familiar Western canon, and that fine art reproductions should be made with exceptional materials.
So we seek out remarkable artists and traditions from around the world, then reproduce them using carefully sourced images, archival giclée printing, and fine art papers from Hahnemühle.

Unframed prints travel rolled in a protective tube. This is the standard and safest way to ship a print: a rolled sheet cannot be creased or have its corners knocked in transit. Framed prints arrive ready to hang.
Hahnemühle paper is very delicate. Its soft, textured matte surface marks far more easily than ordinary poster paper, so handle it with care. Wash and dry your hands first, or wear clean cotton gloves if you have them. Hold the sheet by its edges with both hands, and never touch the printed surface.
To flatten your print:
Frame your print behind glass as soon as you can, and keep it flat until then. Hang it out of direct sunlight and away from damp and heat, such as bathrooms and radiators. If it gathers dust, use a soft, dry brush; never water or cleaning products.
Unsure about anything? Any professional framer will know how to handle and flatten your print, and you can always write to us before you unroll it.
Our principal fine-art papers include Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm and Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm. German Etching has a substantial, lightly textured surface that works exceptionally well for paintings and richly coloured works. Photo Rag has a smoother cotton surface suited to graphic, modernist and highly detailed imagery.
Paper is selected according to the character of the artwork rather than using one generic stock for everything. Framed prints are printed on 200gsm matte fine-art paper.
Giclée is a fine-art printing process using archival pigment inks and high-resolution inkjet printing, made to reproduce subtle colour gradations, fine detail and tonal depth.
Large-format reproduction depends heavily on the quality of the underlying artwork file. We source the highest-resolution material available and prepare each image for print rather than simply enlarging a small internet image.
That is especially important with historic paintings, posters and archival works where source quality varies considerably.
Our framed pieces use solid-wood frames, handmade to order, with low-reflection glazing. There is no mount: the print fills the frame. Framed prints are printed on 200gsm matte fine-art paper.
Screens emit light; paper reflects it, so no physical print can be identical to every monitor or phone display. We prepare our artwork specifically for print and aim for accurate colour, contrast and tonal reproduction.
The texture and surface of fine-art paper also give the finished piece a physical depth that cannot be shown completely on a screen.
“I am not just impressed; I'm blown away by the quality and overall experience. The wood grain in the frame is beautiful and the print quality is superb.”
