Bold dark-red block letters spelling MOSSANT stretch across a solid golden-yellow ground. Three arms reach diagonally through the sheet, each hand presenting a hat: a black bowler held by a white-gloved hand at the top, a grey felt hat held by a yellow-gloved hand at the center, and a dark brown bowler held by a gloved hand at the bottom. Between the hats, a simplified cartoon face in yellow and pink, one cheek and a nose visible, peeks through. The signature Cappiello 1938 sits at the lower right.
Leonetto Cappiello (1875–1942) reinvented the advertising poster. Arriving in Paris from Livorno in 1898 as a caricaturist, he replaced the descriptive Belle Époque bill with a single arresting figure on a flat black or coloured ground — the Cinzano zebra, the Maurin le Quina devil, the Cachou Lajaunie dancer — designed to be read in an instant from a passing tram. He produced more than a thousand posters. His work is held by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
Printed as a museum-grade giclée on Hahnemühle fine art paper using 12-ink archival pigment printing. Available handframed in FSC-certified wood with optional float glass, or unframed. Ships worldwide with free delivery to 30+ countries.
