Richard Roland Holst — Night | Symbolist Fine Art Print
Richard Roland Holst (1868–1938) was a Dutch painter, graphic designer, and muralist who became one of the leading figures of Dutch Symbolism and the Arts and Crafts movement. A close friend of Jan Toorop and husband of the socialist poet Henriette Roland Holst, he produced paintings, posters, stained glass, and book illustrations of great decorative power — works that combine the symbolic weight of Symbolism with the formal clarity of Arts and Crafts design. His early painting Night is among the most atmospheric images of the Dutch fin-de-siècle tradition.
