Herons and Cranes

Heron and crane art prints: Japanese woodblock prints and other works showing herons, egrets, cranes and storks. The most represented artist is Ohara Koson, with bird-and-flower prints of herons and egrets in snow, rain and moonlight from the early 20th century, followed by Kamisaka Sekka, Ogata Kōrin of the Rinpa school, Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Hiroshige, the Dutch Art Nouveau printmaker Theo van Hoytema, Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita and the Korean painter Yang Ki-hun. Typical subjects are birds among reeds, standing in shallow water, perched on branches and pines, and flying over marshes.

The selection focuses on long-legged wading birds, drawn with clear outlines against water, reeds or snow.

The tall, narrow prints suit hallways, bedrooms and spaces beside a door or window, and a pair hung side by side makes a balanced set. All prints are museum-quality reproductions, available unframed or framed with low-glare acrylic glazing, with free shipping and import duties covered.
